The Town of Bridgewater is currently seeking a Wastewater Operator to join our team.

**About the Roles**

This unionized position within the Town’s Wastewater department is a hands-on position involving the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Facility System including the Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Wastewater Collection System.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Successful completion of a two-year post-secondary program in an engineering or water-related field is preferred.
- A combination of education and experience may also be considered

**Certification**:

- The Operator must have the ability to obtain certification as a Class III Operator in Wastewater Treatment from the Nova Scotia Department of Environment
- Class I must be obtained as soon as possible, and Class II and Class III obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the Wastewater Supervisor and the Environmental Services Manager
- The Operator must also have the potential to obtain a Class II Operator Certification in Wastewater Collection from the Nova Scotia Department of Environment.
- Valid class 5 NS Divers License is required

**Experience**:

- Related experience in a municipal field or mechanical/electrical repair/maintenance field is preferred
- A combination of education and experience may also be considered

**Terms of Employment**
- **Wages**:Operators are paid based on their level of certification
- Operator in Training $29.65/hr
- Facility Operator I $30.77/hr
- Facility Operator II $32.03/hr
- Facility Operator III $33.78/hr
- Facility Operator IV $34.96/hr
- Status: Unionized (CUPE, Local 1092)
- Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 8:00am
- 4:30pm).
- Once fully trained, the Operator will participate in the weekly on-call rotation
- Base of operations is the Wastewater Treatment Plant (16 LaHave Street, Bridgewater).
- Work is physically demanding, and the incumbent must be capable of meeting these demands including (but not limited to) standing, walking, climbing, crouching/bending, lifting, pushing/pulling, etc.
- Work takes place in a combination of areas including industrial, and in the field, and the incumbent may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including working in the heat/cold and inclement weather as well as frequent exposure to biological hazards, and unpleasant smells.
