Meat Packaging

PeopleConnect is seeking a Packager to join our team. This position will be responsible for packaging and labeling products in our Ajax, ON warehouse. This position is responsible for all aspects of our packaging materials inventory accuracy and supplier quality. Through diligent focus, this position ensures that we have the required packaging material available as our operations team produces our products. KEY JOB FUNCTIONS / ROLES / RESPONSIBILITIES: **Essential Duties**: **Labeling products** - Packaging products into boxes, bags, or other containers - Maintaining a clean and safe work environment. - Other duties as assigned - Prepare meat products for packaging in suitable containers and ensure proper sealing and labeling. - Accurately measure and portion meat products according to specified weights or quantities. - Inspect meat products for freshness, quality, and adherence to company standards. - Maintain a clean and hygienic work area, including regular cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and utensils. - Keep track of meat inventory levels and report shortages or excesses. - Adhere to safety and health regulations, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) and following food safety guidelines. - Operate and maintain packaging machinery, such as vacuum sealers and shrink wrappers. - Work closely with other team members and supervisors to ensure smooth production and distribution. - Maintain production records, including the number of units packaged and any issues encountered. - Monitor and record temperature settings of storage areas and refrigeration units. - Stay informed about industry and government regulations related to meat packaging. - Implement the "first in, first out" (FIFO) method to rotate stock and ensure product freshness. - Identify and resolve minor issues with packaging equipment or processes. - Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. QUALIFICATIONS: - Previous distribution/warehouse experience is considered an asset - Strong ability to prioritize workload and work independently - Attention to detail - Proactive problem solver with a focus on continuous improvement - Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills - Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team-oriented environment **Requirements**: **Must be able to read and speak English** - Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed - Ability to stand for long periods of time at a desk or table and walk repetitively between departments and production areas. - Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently - Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including but not limited to cold storage, cold production, cold holding areas, cold holding facilities, cold room chillers, and freezer area.
