**PURPOSE AND ACCOUNTABILITY**
Assist the Caretaking Manager/Supervisors with planning, scheduling, inspection and supervising the maintenance and cleaning of facilities and equipment.
**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**:
- Works afternoon shift when school is in session and day shift and weekends as needed.
- Assist in establishing goals and objectives within overall mission of Caretaking Services
- Forecast annual work program; participate in preparing annual budget; determine manpower requirements; prepare estimates; maintain statistics and records.
- Develop and monitor cleaning schedules; assign and schedule caretaking work.
- Assist in the selection of qualified staff, conduct performance reviews and initiate disciplinary action when required
- Train staff or arrange training, including explaining Board policies and caretaking procedures
- Provide leadership, direction and supervision to caretaking staff to ensure their work meets cleaning standards.
- Analyze and recommend improvements to work procedures, equipment performance, product quality, working conditions and cost-effectiveness.
- Performs rotating security call-out required for District properties.
- Provide liaison with school and District staff on caretaking issues.
- Performs other duties as directed by manager/supervisor.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Fifth class engineering certificate.
- Standard First Aid, W.H.M.I.S., TDG, Restricted space training.
- Five or more years of on the job experience in a supervisor role.
- Knowledgeable in relevant building, health and safety codes including WHIMS, National Building Code, National Fire Protection Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Alberta Elevator Act, Alberta Boilers Act, Electrical Code, City by-laws, Education Act and Occupational Hygiene standards.
- Knowledge in maintenance management systems both preventive and predictive techniques.
- Knowledge of contract administration and purchasing procedures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, heating and ventilation equipment.
- Operation knowledge of Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management software.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cleaning techniques.
- Valid Alberta drivers license with good driving record
