BCIT’s **Downtown Campus **is seeking a **regular, full-time (1.0 **FTE**) Downtown Campus Service Support.** This position is responsible for a variety of operations functions within the Downtown Campus (DTC). Duties and responsibilities are related to audio visual (AV) services, bookstore, ancillary support, and Student Information and Enrolment Services (SIES).**Duties & Responsibilities**

**DUTIES** **AND**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**AV Services/Circulation and Technical Support**
- Responds to service calls from instructors, staff, students and external clients.
- Demonstrates, instructs and advises instructors, staff, students and external clients in the proper use and operation of a variety of audio visual equipment as appropriate
- Assists in setting up AV equipment for special events, for both internal and external clients.
- Ensures circulation equipment is in good operating condition.
- Checks integrity of laptop operating system; advise Information Technology Services (ITS) Downtown Campus to update files.
- Performs periodic visual inventory checks to facilitate the circulation process and update Cherwell Service Management for new or decommissioned equipment
- Performs check on equipment for any errors, malfunctions, service problems, missing items.

**Bookstore and Ancillary Support**
- Opens bookstore, accesses WinPrism for stock checks, course book inquires, price verification, etc.
- Operates sales and returns transactions on cash register and debit/credit transaction machine.
- Handles online book order pickups, and after-hour student identification card and library books pickups.
- Closes store and prints transactions settlement. Reconciles cash.
- Organizes instructor mailboxes in instructor resource room, prepares new instructor name tags, recycles old/leftover paper materials, accesses COGNOS reporting system to print attendance register for new term start.
- Organizes and delivers mail/packages to rooms as needed.
- Handles online document imaging requests from Part-time Studies (PTS) instructors.
- Replenishes copier paper, toner and staples.
- Reports to Facilities Management on facilities issues, e.g. HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleaning and room setup.

**Student Information and Enrolment Services (**SIES**)**
- Provides information on courses and programs, including availability and eligibility requirements.
- Enters client information and creates identification on student information system.
- Registers students into courses and information sessions.
- Collects and processes a variety of payments by determining appropriate coding for specific fee assessments, balancing total, identifying discrepancies and reconciling end-of-day report.
- Handles cash and debit transactions.

**Other**
- Reports to Supervisor any unresolved issues that need further attention and follows up as necessary.
- Participates in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices, policies and procedures (both BCIT and FOIPOP).
- Undertakes related duties as assigned consistent with the job grade for this position

**Qualifications**

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Definition**:The qualifications section for this position was developed using the approved job evaluation plan, agreed to between the BCGEU and BCIT. The qualifications represent the minimum qualifications required in the future (i.e. to be reflected in job postings) and do not reflect the incumbent’s existing qualifications.

**Education**:

- Requires the equivalent of completion of specialized training programs of up to two years in duration such as a Diploma of Technology or completion of a two-year full-time program from a Community College, preferably a certificate in electronics. Formal training in audio-visual services (i.e. industry training, seminars, associated credentialing such as electronics training or Certified Technology Specialist).

**Experience**:

- Two years’ general technical experience plus two years’ practical current experience in a similar position (which includes experience with AV control systems, troubleshooting AV equipment, and experience with AV equipment inventory, circulation and repair software in a customer service context).

**Software/Computer Application(s) and Expertise**:

- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). Knowledge of and experience working with financial management software, point-of-sale systems and web-based reporting modules.**Communication/Interpersonal Skills**:

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with a broad spectrum of customers.
- Ability to adapt to frequent changes in Institute and department initiatives and technology.

**Administrative Skills (e.g. prioritizing, minute taking, wp speed, etc.)**:

- Must be able to work with ongoing deadlines and have excellent organizational skills.
