- Grade 12 education required
- Certificate in Volunteer Management or equivalent relevant education
- Minimum of two years recent relevant health care experience
- Experience in Recreation and Volunteer programs
- Knowledge of electronic scheduling program such as Volunteer Works
- Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory ability
- Demonstrated experience in employee and labour relations
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment

Reporting to the Regional Coordinator - Volunteer Services, the Coordinator - Volunteer Services is responsible for the delivery of quality volunteer services within Prairie Mountain Health programs and services. The Coordinator - Volunteer Services fosters/facilitates interdisciplinary, collaborative relationships within an assigned area to ensure a high standard of patient/resident care is delivered.

The Coordinator - Volunteer Services will oversee and provide service to volunteer operations in designated geographical area of Prairie Mountain Health.

The responsibilities of the Coordinator encompass the domains of coordination leadership, planning, organizing, program development, communication, resourcemanagement, advancement of knowledge, and continuous quality improvement.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Overview**:
**Establishes and Maintains a Volunteer Program**
- Follows policies and procedures developed for the Volunteer Program.
- Maintains statistical reports including volunteer hours and assignments.
- Promotes the Volunteer Program for assigned area through various methods.
- Continually evaluates and improves the Volunteer Program to fulfill the requirements of clients, volunteers, staff, and program.
- Provides recognition of volunteer service and achievement.
- Communicates relevant information to the Regional Coordinator - Volunteer Services and, as needed, staff within the assigned program / service area.
- Responds to issues requiring follow-up.

**Coordinates Volunteers for the Volunteer Program**
- Recruits, orientates, supervises, educates, and evaluates volunteers for the Volunteer Program. Consults with the Regional Coordinator - Volunteer Services regarding any volunteers who are identified as inappropriate in any way and may require dismissal from the Volunteer Program.
- Identifies areas where volunteers will be utilized.
- Assigns volunteer duties in accordance with aptitudes and interests.
- Provides learning opportunities and training for volunteers.
- Establishes and maintains excellent relationships with volunteers, clients, and staff.

**Participates as a Member of the Health Care Team**
- Communicates effectively with clients, families, and other members of the health care team.
- Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relationships with all members of the health care team, clients, and families.
- Actively participates in team meetings, staff meetings, and other facility and regional activities.
- Assists in the orientation and development of new staff, students, and volunteers as requested.
