For 75 years, St. Jude’s Anglican Home has been compassionately caring for older British Columbians. Located near Vancouver’s Cambie corridor, St. Jude’s is a not-for-profit Long-term care home providing Resident focused quality care to 55 seniors.

We are now seeking to the fill the position of **Recreation Assistant / Activity Aide - Casual**

Under the direction of the Director of Care and with Department Co-Ordinator, the **Recreation Assistant** implements established activities to engage Residents to meet their recreational, social, physical and emotional needs. This position also provides direction to volunteers as needed.

**Key Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Implement and participate in activities, life skills, recreational and/or social activities designed to meet the needs of each senior. Adapts and modifies established activities to meet the special needs of the Resident.
- Observe Client and his environment, report unsafe conditions and behaviours, physical and/or cognitive changes, to the Supervisor. Promote Client's participation in activities and provide feedback regarding the performance and progress of the Client.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Grade 12, completion of recognized recreational courses, plus two years’ recent geriatric related experience or an equivalent combined of education, training and experience.
- Ability to work in a flexible and collaborative manner with the team.
- Ability to demonstrate respect for the rights, confidentiality, dignity and self-esteem of those who are elderly, physically disabled or cognitively impaired.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
- Ability to follow instructions and to work independently.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Wage as per HEU Collective Agreement: $26.93

Availability for Shifts both weekends and weekdays

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $26.93 per hour

- 8 hour shift
- On call

Supplemental pay types:

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Dementia care: 1 year (preferred)

- Day Shift (preferred)
