Respite Worker

Job Summary:
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Respite Workers.
**Responsibilities**:
- Travel throughout the Niagara Region required
- Provide one-on-one care and support to children with special needs in the home and
community setting
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities and play to promote social, emotional and
cognitive development
- Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times
- Assist with daily living activities, including feeding, toileting and personal hygiene tasks
- Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and other team members to provide updates on child’s progress and any concerns
- Maintain a positive and supportive environment for children to thrive and build confidence
- Follow all policies and procedures related to respite care services and adhere to ethical
guidelines while working with children with special needs
Qualifications:
- Valid Full G Driver’s License/Drivers Abstract with Passenger Coverage Insurance
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR
- Police Clearance including the Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Personal Liability Insurance
- Experience working with children with special needs in a respite care or similar setting
- Knowledge of development disabilities, behavioural challenges, and strategies for supporting children with special needs
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, caregivers and other team members
- Compassion, patience, and empathy in working with children with developmental disabilities
- Understanding of confidentiality and ethical considerations in working with children with special needs

Note: This is a paid position. Internship positions are also compensated.

Pay: $19.00-$23.00 per hour
