Produce Clerk

As a member of the produce team, your role will include setting and maintaining attractive fresh produce displays and assure that all objectives and goals of the department and store, as communicated by the Market Manager, and leadership team, are met or exceeded. You will ensure a positive company image by providing legendary customer service.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Assist and support the Produce Team Leader with all departmental functions.
- Follow through on all customer questions and requests.
- Clean, peel, slice and trim vegetables and fruits for ready-to-serve offerings.
- Prepare ready to serve products such as Sunterra’s freshly squeezed juices.
- Understand juicing machine usage, safety, and maintenance
- Keep all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated.
- Follow established food safety, cleaning, and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain accurate retail pricing and signage.
- Oversee sampling of department products to customers.
- Be aware of new products and their placement.
- Know and practice proper lifting techniques and safe use of all tools and equipment.
- Practice proper care and maintenance of all equipment.
- Report safety violations and hazards immediately; maintain department security.
- Regular attendance is essential.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Department Team Lead

Qualifications:

- Basic knife skills for prep work
- Knowledge of fruit and vegetable variations
- Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures
- WHMIS and Food Safety Certification required (Sunterra will provide courses)

Working Conditions:

- Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
- Some exposure to temperature variations and wet conditions.
- May walk and work on uneven surfaces.
- Requires some reaching above and below shoulder height.
- Repetitive use of hands with power grasping and fine manipulation.
- May need to use a ladder or stool to reach product or supplies.
- Repetitive stretching and lifting required.
- Lifting of items up to 40 pounds (over 40 requires a team lift)
