**About Us**:
The Federation of Foster Families of Nova Scotia (FFFNS) is a charitable organization funded by the Nova Scotia Department of Opportunities and Social Development and governed by a Board of Directors.

The FFFNS is a collective voice for all foster caregivers in Nova Scotia. The Federation aims to offer on-going assistance, support, and training to foster families and foster family associations.

**Objectives**:

- To ensure the integrity of the Federation as a collective voice for all foster caregivers.
- To support foster caregivers in their role of providing on-going care to meet the physical and emotional needs of children and youth placed in their home.
- To promote an awareness of supports and services to foster caregivers.
- To encourage the development of foster family associations and support groups.
- To continually work toward improving relationships connected to foster care.

**About Our Opportunity**

This position is an exciting opportunity with a combination of roles and responsibilities sure to inspire and enhance one’s own professional development. Approximately 50% of time will involve managing allegation support for families from the African Nova Scotian community and organizing and facilitating monthly virtual gatherings of foster caregiver Hub homes for the purpose of peer mentoring and group learning.

The remaining 50% of time will be allocated to managing the Foster Care Ambassador Program, a new, soon to be initiated program at the Federation. The Ambassador Program will support the Department of Opportunities and Social Development to increase the number of foster caregivers in the province. The Federation will recruit, onboard, and support a roster of foster care ambassadors who will be available to attend recruitment events and help to spread awareness of the Foster Care program.

**Responsibilities**:

- Managing the strategic planning processes for the development and implementation of Foster Allegation Support Services that support the African Nova Scotian community.
- Increasing awareness and knowledge of services offered by the Allegation Support Social Worker.
- Providing support, guidance and assistance to Foster Families and Adoption Probationary families from the African Nova Scotian community undergoing an allegation of child abuse or neglect in accordance with the Consolidated Allegations Investigations Team (CAIT) Protocol.
- Developing good working relationships with other professionals engaged in the process of a CAIT investigation.
- Advocating for and supporting Foster Caregivers from the African Nova Scotian community who appeal a decision that impacted their home as a result of a CAIT investigation.
- Maintaining accurate documentation, providing annual reports, including statistical data.
- Managing the ongoing development, implementation and delivery of the Ambassador Program, and the on-going oversight of this program in collaboration with the Child and Family Well Being Foster Care Division.
- Facilitate peer mentorship amongst Hub homes via monthly virtual sessions and in person sessions once per year.

**Qualifications**:

- A Bachelor of Social Work degree or a Master of Social Work degree
- Are a member, or eligible to be a member, of the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office 365 would be an asset.
- Mediation skills.
- Child welfare experience would be an asset.
- Some travel is required, so having a vehicle is necessary.
- Some work outside of regular office hours is required.

**Employment Equity Statement**:
Pay: $57,262.00-$69,531.00 per year
