Environmental Scientist

**Overview**

**Responsibilities**
- Be involved with some of industry’s most complex and challenging soil and water remediation/decontamination projects.
- Monitor and operate industry-leading contaminated soil decontamination technologies.
- Review and interpret results from third-party prepared environmental site assessment and waste characterization reports.
- Characterize waste materials for transportation and off-site management purposes.
- Conduct decontamination facility environmental compliance monitoring and reporting relative to Facility Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs) and policies/operating procedures.
- Supervise and mentor staff in both field and office settings.
- Coordinate field programs, subcontractors, and equipment logistics.
- Oversee all facility construction, decontamination technology process design/upgrade, and facility soil decontamination activities.
- Review and interpret environmental data, lab results, and historical records.
- Prepare technical reports and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Lead health and safety initiatives and promote a safety-first culture.

**Skills/Requirements**
- A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field; or a Technologist diploma with relevant experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in environmental services, particularly in contaminated site remediation/decontamination.
- Eligibility for professional designation and Qualified Person (QP) status is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Ontario environmental regulations (O.Reg. 153/04 & 406/19).
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for local travel.
- Willingness to travel for project work and relocate if necessary to work at our Nanticoke facility.
