**Overview**:
As a Venue Supervisor you will provide leadership and direction to the Bartenders/ Servers during an event and ensure that excellent customer service is delivered. You will be the supervisor first in-last out to manage all aspects of an event from set-up, execution and tear-down, including post event reporting. You are the conductor of the wonderful symphony that is an event, leading by example, and willing to roll up your sleeves to get the job done
The Steam Whistle Events Team is polite, professional and positive, always striving to provide excellent customer experiences.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Main point of contact onsite during event set-up for clients, vendors, partners and guests
- Follow timeline of agenda in Venue Event Order, prepared in advance by Event Coordinator, including scheduled deliveries, vendor and staffing arrival times
- Conduct pre-event duties and subsequently brief all bartenders / servers communicating event details
- Participate in a variety of tasks required to successfully service all third party corporate and social events (plated dinners, product launches, corporate meetings, cocktail party, weddings, etc.).
- Ensure all equipment is properly managed by appointed specialists (ladder/ lift usage)
- Ensure client’s needs are met and expectations are exceeded through an anticipatory mindset, and frequent communication is maintained
- Ensure all food providers are following proper Food Handlers Safety guidelines for storage, preparation and service
- Ensure all liquor products and service adhere to AGCO rules, for all SOP, liquor licence and caterer endorsements
- Keep accurate log of arrival and departure times for staff, security, vendors and deliveries, as well as any incident reporting
- Maintain constant communication with security to monitor attendance, and respond to flagrant activity with urgency
- Report on accuracy of Event Prep Pack including but not limited to; quantities of stock, glassware and beverages ordered and any changes to agenda or service times
- Report on AV services; technician arrival and departure times, quality of production and client/ guest feedback
- Ensure waste management and sustainability policies are adhered to by all staff, vendors and guests
- Proactively prepare space and/ or perform duties that would benefit set-up of the event following where time permits
- Properly execute bar closing duties and deposit floats, tickets and all other reconciliation requirements
- Prepare comprehensive post-event notes (PEN)
- Properly secure premises upon departure
- Provide training to all team members
- Attend monthly Events team meetings
- As Venue Supervisor you will also be required to perform bartender/server duties as the need arises
**Experience and Qualifications**:
- Exceptional customer service skills
- 3+ year experience as service professional in a supervisory role in a fast-paced premium restaurant/ banquet hall/ staffing company/ event venue
- Comprehensive knowledge of service standards and practices in hospitality/ food and beverage
- Ability to lift heavy objects as need arises, and stand for long periods of time
- Must have varying availability including some weekdays, evenings and weekends
- Must have up to date Smart Serve Certification
- Food Handlers Certificate an asset
- CPR training an asset
- A passion and knowledge of Craft brewing is an asset
