The Corporate Strategic Services Branch provides strategic leadership, direction, and coordination of a broad range of planning, policy, and administrative services for the department. The Planning and Performance Unit within Corporate Strategic Services Branch aims to inform strategic decision making, planning, and reporting actions of Forestry and Parks and to enhance organizational resilience to business interruptions. Key deliverables provided through this unit include: business and operational planning, annual reporting, performance measurement and evaluation, enterprise risk management, and business continuity. The work of this unit functions within the parameters of applicable government and ministry legislation, regulation, policies, standards, directives, and procedures.
**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager of Planning and Reporting, the Business Planning Analyst plays a critical role in supporting evidence-informed decision-making, strategic planning, and performance reporting for the Ministry of Forestry and Parks. This position contributes to ministry-wide planning and accountability functions, guided by government legislation, policy, and strategic frameworks. The Analyst provides cross-functional leadership in the development and coordination of the ministry’s planning and reporting tools. This role requires a high degree of autonomy, strategic foresight, and the ability to synthesize complex information across ministry and cross-government initiatives to strengthen organizational alignment, enhance public accountability, and drive continuous improvement in planning and reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the planning and performance agenda for Forestry and Parks, including:
- Business Plan Development.
- Operations Planning.
- Performance Measurement.
- Annual Report Development.
- Other Planning and Reporting Initiatives.
Additional responsibilities:
- Conduct ongoing environmental scanning to identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities that inform strategic planning and decision making.
- Facilitate the ministry’s enterprise risk management process, including maintaining a risk register, to proactively identify and mitigate uncertainties and risks facing the organization.
- Prepare materials to support the ministry’s appearances at Committee of Supply, Public Accounts Committee, and other committees.
- Prepare a variety of briefings and reports in accordance with government standards to provide advice and inform senior management of progress on priorities and support decision making.
- Represent the division on internal initiatives and the ministry on cross-ministry initiatives.
- Assist the Planning and Performance leadership team in supporting the unit to accomplish operational goals.

**Qualifications**:
Minimum Recruitment Standard:
- University graduation in a related field such as political science or social science plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
- Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

- Strong knowledge of corporate planning, government structure, and decision-making processes.
