Liquid Soils Sampler

**Job Summary**
**Responsibilities**
Perform testing on liquid soils from hydrovac trucks prior to dumping using PID detection tool, UV light screener tool, and others.
Perform sample compilation of stockpiled soils, sands, and aggregates - deliver to lab for analysis.
Use appropriate sampling techniques to collect soil and water samples to ensure all sampling equipment is properly sanitized and maintained to prevent contamination.
Utilize basic math skills for calculations related to sample analysis and reporting.
Conduct field tests to assess contamination levels, and other relevant properties.
Document and report test results in a timely and accurate manner in load data collection app, SoilFlo.
Ensure compliance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) regulations regarding soil and water disposal pertaining to our ECA.
Communicate findings with the site team and provide recommendations for safe dumping.
Maintain testing equipment and ensure it is calibrated and functioning properly.
Assist in troubleshooting any potential contamination or non-compliance issues.
Collaborate with management to ensure best practices are followed.
Perform daily equipment inspections to ensure safe operation and identify any maintenance needs.
Always follow safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
Complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately, meeting project deadlines.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate work activities and ensure smooth project execution.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the equipment and surrounding area.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs and machine maintenance/upkeep as needed.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and other personnel on the job site.
Assist team members with other sewage and hydrovac slurry plant operations and site operations as required.
Assist in Site Preparation: Prepare facility by cleaning, clearing debris, and removing potential hazards.
Material Handling: Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment as required.
Support Skilled technicians: Assist skilled technicians such as general manager, and foreman, by providing the necessary help as required or directed.
Assist with Tasks: Support various tasks as required by the foreman.
Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve project goals and deadlines.
Assist in fabricating or modifying sampling tools as necessary for specific tasks.
**Requirements**:
- Be punctual, reliable, and dependable.
- Experience in soil testing, environmental science, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with hydrovac operations and soil/water contamination testing.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
- Knowledge of local and federal environmental regulations regarding soil and water contamination.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members.
- Valid G Class, (or higher) driver’s license (if travel between sites is required).
**Working Conditions**:
- Work is primarily outdoors, involving fieldwork at hydrovac truck dumping sites.
- Must be comfortable working in various weather conditions.
- Occasional heavy lifting may be required for testing equipment.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 - 10 per week
