About Our Opportunity:
The Victim Support Worker works as part of a specialized partnership team and is co-located in a police-based unit. The team provides follow-up on elder abuse cases reported to the New Westminster Police. This position can be condensed into 2-3 days per week with some evening work as needed. This position reports ot the Manager of the Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV) Victim Services Program.

What do you need to succeed?
**Education, Training, Experience**
- B.S.W. or relevant B.A. from a recognized, accredited university.
- Minimum two years of experience supporting and advocating for elders who have experienced violence, abuse, neglect, or self-neglect.
**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities**
- Effectively manage relationship with the police unit, clients and criminal justice system.
- Ability to work independently, and as part of the Domestic Violence Response Team in the NWPD, and as part of the larger FSGV Victim Services team.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and support skills, risk assessment and ability to safety plan.
- Knowledge of dynamics of violence in intimate relationships, criminal harassment, sexual/physical/emotional and economic abuse.
- Collaborative communication, including teamwork and cooperation, interpersonal communication, diversity and cultural agility.
- Personal effectiveness, including integrity and ethical behaviour, personal resilience, adaptability/flexibility.
- Commitment to: results focus, client-centered service, planning and organizing and technical proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Maintain contact and network effectively with other community service providers and to provide a referral base for clients.
- Understanding of the criminal justice system.
- Meet the administrative expectations of the agency and program, including file record-keeping and data collection.
**Additional Requirements**
- Successful completion of an enhanced Criminal Record Check
- A second language is an asset.
