**The opportunity**:
The Career Advisor provides front-line career support to undergraduate students and alumni through the Career Development Centre. Reporting to the Lead, Student Success and Strategic Initiatives, the Career Advisor guides individuals in developing career readiness skills, navigating job search strategies, and preparing for employment or further education. This includes one-on-one advising sessions focused on career exploration, résumé and cover letter development, interview techniques, labour market insights, and the use of online career tools. The Career Advisor also delivers career-focused workshops on topics such as professional communication, networking, and job search effectiveness.

In addition to student advising, the Career Advisor plays an important role in supporting employer recruitment activities. Responsibilities include coordinating job postings, organizing employer information sessions and on-campus interviews, and advising employers on best practices for connecting with students. The Career Advisor also contributes to event promotion, maintains accurate service records, and assists in the planning and delivery of career programming throughout the academic year. By fostering strong relationships with business, government, and non-profit employers, and by representing the Career Development Centre in a professional and inclusive manner, the Career Advisor helps ensure a high-quality career development experience for all stakeholders.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Undergraduate degree required. A degree in Business, Human Resources, Marketing or a related discipline is preferred.
- Training or experience related to career development or student services is an asset.
- Formal career development or employment training (formal or on-the-job) is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of one year of related experience providing career advising or employment support to students, preferably in a post-secondary or youth employment context required.
- Experience delivering career-related guidance (e.g., résumé reviews, job search support, interview prep) to business students or job seekers with a focus on professional roles.
- Experience coordinating or supporting career-focused events, including employer information sessions, career fairs, workshops, or speaker panels required.
- Experience delivering presentations on career specific topic required.
- Experience supporting or participating in marketing and promotional efforts such as drafting event content, preparing social media posts, designing posters, or engaging with student or employer audiences required.
- Experience maintaining and updating content on a website is preferred.
- Familiarity with employment trends and recruitment practices in the business sector are preferred (e.g., finance, marketing, accounting, HR).
- Experience reconciling expenses and assisting with budget tracking is an asset.
- Must have strong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills; able to engage respectfully and professionally with students, alumni, staff, and external business and community partners.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, supportive career advice to students, alumni and employers.
- Must have working knowledge and experience advising related to career-focused documents (e.g., résumés, cover letters) and career development resources.
- Proven ability to facilitate independently small-group sessions or workshops is required.
- Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Must be able to coordinate employer recruitment activities, such as posting jobs, information meetings, employer panels, promoting and scheduling events, and managing interview bookings.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams); experience using social media platforms and basic graphic tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express) is an asset.
- Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
