Part-time Health Care Aide Extendicare St. Paul

In accordance with the policies and practices of the organization, the HSW aids/cares for routine activities of living for the client(s) with health, physical, emotional and mental concerns.

- Union and Union jobs, the below description will apply:
**Responsibilities**:
1) Personal Hygiene care of clients in accordance with the care plan such as bathing, showering and grooming
2) Makes beds, Toilets client and takes care of bandage and dressing changes
3) Utilizes proper body mechanics and transfer techniques to carry out safe lifts and/or transfers.
4) Prepares nutritious, varied and economical meals and snacks, including special diets as determined by the care plan, and uses proper food preparation, storage and hygiene practices.
5) Provides cognitive, social and/or emotional support to the client.
6) Aids with the use and care of adaptive aids - Hearing Devices, Glasses or contact lenses and dentures
7) Aids with a variety of household tasks - Cleaning, Laundry, usage of standard household and cooking equipment’s
8) Observes and reports any changes or problems related to the client or client’s environment to the immediate Supervisor in a timely manner.
**Qualifications**:
1) HSW Certificate and experience working with vulnerable population
2) Interpersonal skills typically gained through daily living skills acquired in caring for the household management needs of a family, elderly, disabled or ill family members, as well as personal care needs of an ill family member.
3) Must have access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
