AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM FACILITATOR

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in coordinating, developing and maintaining the programming for our drop-in play and resource centre. This includes: management and facilitation of educational programs for children, parents and caregivers. These activities are to be in alignment with our mission and vision, while ensuring that our philosophy of openness and understanding is being upheld.

**Responsibilities**:

- Oversee afternoon program delivery, activities and special events
- Maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Ensuring relevant information in books, magazines, and pamphlets are available
- Attend staff meetings
- Role model positive parenting skills and ensure confidentiality is maintained
- Lead adult and children’s programs: generate ideas and complete sessions safely and informatively
- Monitor program attendance and implement methods for increasing/maintaining attendance
- Implement evaluation measures as directed
- Assist in the development of resources for parents
- Ensure safety and cleanliness standards are being met
- Assist on weekends with supervising birthday party bookings

QUALIFICATIONS

Academic
- High School Diploma (ECE, SSW diploma or degree in a related field of study preferred)

Experience
- Experience working with children and their families
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Basic knowledge of child development and parenting skills

Additional Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Group facilitation and presentation skills
- Computer skills
- Competent in oral and written communication
- Knowledge of the community
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Sensitivity and non-judgemental attitude
- Flexibility with regards to duties and scheduling

Other Required Certification
- First Aid with CPR
- Approved Food Handler’s Certificate

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $17.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)

Ability to Commute:

- Mount Albert, ON L0G 1M0 (required)
