**Salary**: $3,548.95 to $4,842.27 bi-weekly ($92,627 - $126,383/year)
Alberta Forestry and Parks manages the province’s forests, parks, and public lands, balancing environmental stewardship, economic growth, and social well-being. We ensure sustainable resource use through the Integrated Resource Management System (IRMS), collaborating with Indigenous communities, industry, and the public. Our work protects biodiversity, supports outdoor recreation, and promotes responsible land use for future generations.
**Role Responsibilities**:
As the Lands Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing Alberta’s Crown lands and natural resources, ensuring sustainable development while balancing environmental, economic, and social outcomes. Reporting to the Regional Integrated Lands Delivery Director, you will oversee the issuance of complex land use authorizations, manage a diverse team of professionals, and ensure compliance with provincial legislation and policies.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Act as a statutory decision-maker for land use authorizations under various provincial acts including the _Public Lands Act_, _Forest Reserves Act_, and _Provincial Parks Act_.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and the public, ensuring that their concerns are addressed in land use decisions.
- Ensure that land use decisions align with Alberta’s Integrated Resource Management System (IRMS) and regional land use plans, minimizing adverse environmental impacts.
- Provide direct supervision and mentorship to a multidisciplinary team of senior professionals and technical staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Oversee inspection programs, ensuring compliance with land use authorizations and addressing unauthorized activities in collaboration with the Crown Lands Enforcement Branch.
- Participate in regional and provincial working groups, contributing to the development of policies and strategies that support sustainable resource management.

**Qualifications**:
Required:
- Education: A completed university degree in natural resources, land use, environmental sciences, agriculture or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 6 years in land management, regulatory compliance, environmental planning or related field.
**Equivalency**: Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on the basis of one year of education for one year of experience or vice versa.
- Assets:
- Progressive leadership experience in natural resources management. Experience with applicable legislation, regulations, frameworks, and guidelines (i.e., _Public Lands Act_ (PLA), _Forest Reserves Act_, Wilderness Areas, Ecological Reserves, _Provincial Parks Act_ (PA), and N_atural Areas and Heritage Rangelands Act_ (WAERNAHRA)).
- Experience with water management, water quality, air quality, substance releases, land disturbance, land management and forest management with the associated environmental impacts and management principles.
