On-call Transfer

_As an independently owned funeral home and crematorium, we pride ourselves on the progressive and supportive work environment. We are seeking an individual to join our caring team to assist us with transfers and cremations on an on-call part time basis, to assist during staff shortages due to vacations, sick leave and other times of increased demand._
- Since there are no guaranteed hours, the role is designed to work around your existing schedule and advance notice will always be given when your assistance is needed. It would be an ideal role for someone either interested in the field or semi-retired, and we will provide all necessary training._

**Duties**:

- Transportation of decedents from hospitals and holding facilities throughout Vancouver Island to our location in Langford
- Processes removal paperwork and maintains accurate chain of custody records
- Acts as a professional representative of the funeral home when interacting with healthcare staff and the bereaved
- Responsible for performing cremations in our 2 retort crematorium, most likely during the evenings
- Completes all required documentation with respect to cremation process and equipment maintenance
- Ensuring cremated remains are identified, stored and disposed of appropriately
- Other duties as requested by management such as ensuring removal vehicles are clean & well organized, and delivering urns & documents etc.

**Skills & Qualifications**:

- A valid Class 4 BC's Driver's Licence with clean Driver's Abstract
- Comfortable driving long distances
- Ability to safely move and lift up to 90 kgs with transfer equipment & safe lifting skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability be flexible while adapting to changes in priorities
- Excellent attention to detail and a consistently high level of accuracy
- Maintain high ethical and confidentiality standards
- Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must exhibit professionalism, be empathetic and compassionate in difficult situations
- Second language is an asset
- Criminal Records Check
