**Position Description**:
**MSW Social Worker - Eating Disorder Day Hospital Program - 1.0 FTE (5 days per week) Permanent On-site**

The Hospital for Sick Children is a leading tertiary pediatric centre providing medical and mental health care to the most complex children and youth and their families. The Eating Disorders Program (EDP) at SickKids is undertaking an ambitious renovation of its services with the goal of providing highly integrated medical stabilization and mental health assessment and treatment services to patients and families.This re-design of services will transform inpatient, day treatment and outpatient care to a fully integrated and collaborative model between the Division of Adolescent Medicine and the Department of Psychiatry. Treatment will focus on the delivery of high-quality evidence-based models that ensure care optimizes patients’ recovery while supporting their parents and caregivers.

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Social Work, this position will provide social work services to both patients and families within the Eating Disorders Day Hospital at the Hospital for Sick Children. Through in-depth psychosocial assessments, the Social Worker identifies child and family strengths, problem-solving abilities, interactions, attitudes, feelings and cultural issues in relation to the baby’s/child’s illness. He/she also identifies supports and resources available to the family.

**Here’s What You’ll Get To Do**:
As a full time Social Worker within the Eating Disorders Program you will:

- Provide therapeutic interventions to the Eating Disorder Day Hospital patients and families, inclusive of family and group therapies, meal support etc.
- Create and implement treatment goals and plans that addresses adaptation, coping, adherence and quality of life in support of eating disorder recovery
- Deliver evidence-informed psychotherapeutic interventions inclusive of DBT, EFFT, FBT and other innovative modalities for patients and families for treatment of eating disorders
- Support and facilitate sector relationships and partnerships that build seamless care pathways between SickKids and other pediatric partners
- Participate as an active and collaborative member of the EDP interdisciplinary health care team
- Participate in program design and implementation of quality improvement initiatives; support initiatives that evaluate the effectiveness and impact of eating disorders interventions.
- Collaborate and communicate well as part of a larger health care team
- Integrate research into practice and create, utilize and/or disseminate new knowledge.

**Here’s What You’ll Need**
- Master’s degree in Social Work
- Registration and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers, Social Service Workers
- Two years of post-graduate clinical mental health experience with children youth and families in the areas of day treatment, outpatient therapy - eating disorders specific experience strongly preferred
- Experience in the delivery of evidence-based therapies such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy
- (DBT), Family Based Treatment (FBT) and EFFT for eating disorders and/or other modalities include Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT-E), multi-family based treatment groups and/or Motivational (MI/MET) therapies are strongly preferred
- Hands on meal support with eating disorder patients, and family support, facilitation of DBT and multi-family groups preferred
- Demonstrated skills in patient and family engagement, customizing treatment to the needs of patients and families inclusive of trauma informed and culturally competent care and supporting families in all phases of treatment including preparing for transition and discharge
