The **Parts Manager** is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Parts Department to achieve the department’s goals. They will have strong customer service and sales skills and perform well under pressure. They will understand how to anticipate the needs of the customer, the Sales Team, and the Service Team for various parts and accessories.

Key responsibilities include effective communication, parts sourcing, inventory management and control, and superior product knowledge with the ability to upsell the products they carry. This position requires an individual who excels at maintaining customer satisfaction, organization, safety, and continuous improvement. Throughout their work the Parts Manager should be able to provide Senior Management with insights to further increase revenue and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities

**Parts Department Operations and Inventory Management**
- Monitor and manage parts and accessory inventory levels based on demand and cost targets
- Maintain inventory levels that ensures that customer needs are met, and the service department can complete work in a timely manner, while minimizing carrying costs
- Actively source and identify new suppliers that may be better priced or have better quality parts
- Identify prospects for volume sales and maintain regular contact with major retail and small business customers to build loyalty and ensure long-term revenue
- Employ excellent inventory management skills and analyze the movement of parts and accessories for valuable information in decision making
- Manage parts and accessory purchasing and coordinate major orders with vendors
- Ensure the highest standards in parts displays and retail space is maintained, and that displays are merchandised with current, high demand products
- Handle all receiving and shipping of parts and packages in a timely fashion - all incoming and outgoing orders should be completely processed the same day
- Store all products in their correct specified locations and maintain an orderly Parts Department including a clean and organized parts room
- Process parts warranties and merchandise returns as per manufacturer's / distributor's policies
- Provide accurate physical counts of all inventory as required
- Work closely with Service to ensure all necessary parts are binned and labelled for each repair order and parts are ordered as required before unit is scheduled into the shop

**Customer Service and Product Knowledge**
- Create a solid first impression and commitment to GMT’s superior customer service by acknowledging all customers in a prompt and professional manner
- Maintain strong, long-term relationships that ensure customers return, and help strengthen the customer experience by ensuring customer enquiries are dealt with quickly and with adequate and helpful information, regardless of communication method including telephone enquiries, walk in customers, and internet enquiries
- Consider what might be important to each customer; anticipate needs and act proactively to deliver and effectively upsell parts and services to enhance the customer’s experience and increase revenue
- Coordinate with Service and Sales to meet deadlines and service requirements
- Proactively communicate with all customers to avoid promising unreasonable requests and

deadlines, choosing positive language that enhances the trust and confidence customers have of the organization
- Handle difficult situations calmly and with confidence, showing empathy and a positive attitude with any customer complaints
- Complete all manufacturer product training as required and continuously increase product knowledge on all new products related to the marine industry

**Safety, Time Management, and Service Support**
- Maintain safe work habits and a clean and organized work environment
- Always use proper personal protective equipment
- Be aware of surroundings to avoid potential hazards or dangerous situations
- Demonstrate effective time management in order to accomplish all expectations of the role and use all the tools and resources
