Slimdor Contracting Ltd. has been an established firm in the construction industry for 30+ years. Our operations include the demolition, underground and earthworks related installation to building and maintaining residential, commercial and infrastructure projects in Calgary and the Southern Alberta areas. We are currently seeking an experienced Underground Pipelayer (Water & Sewer) to join our team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Align and position pipes to prepare them for sealing, welding or fusing
- Check slopes for conformance to specifications using level or lasers
- Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding/fusing equipment, cement or glue
- Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools
- Cover pipes with earth/aggregates and cut pipes to required lengths
- Locate existing pipes needing repair or replacement, using magnetic or radio indicators
- Tap and drill holes in pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices
- Grade and level trench bass, using hand tools and compaction equipment
- Install and use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, and transit levels
- Layout pipe routes, following written drawings/specifications
- Perform additional tasks as may be required per Foreman direction

**Required Skills**:

- Strong attention to detail and focus on quality workmanship
- Ability to follow instructions
- Teamwork oriented individual who can work safely with a group
- Good communications skillset and understanding of the English language
- Ability to provide training and problem solving methods to foreman and crews

Required Experience/Certification:

- 5+ years’ experience with Underground construction as a Pipelayer
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in the construction industry
- Possess a valid driver’s license along with a clean driver’s abstract
- Safety training (First aid, Ground disturbance, Confined Space, etc.) - An asset
