The**Food Services Manager**position with the **Government of Ontario** offers an exciting opportunity to oversee and evaluate food service operations within a secure custody facility. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for planning and administering daily meal preparation and distribution, ensuring dietary needs are met, and maintaining rigorous standards of hygiene and safety.

You will supervise and train staff, manage inventory, and collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless operations. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential, as you will be expected to lead by example, provide clear direction, and hold staff accountable to performance and safety standards. Your ability to communicate effectively across teams and levels will be key to fostering a respectful and efficient work environment.

As a Food Services Manager, you will play a critical role in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of kitchen operations. You will develop and implement best practices for food preparation, portion control, and waste management, ensuring compliance with public health regulations. You will also manage budgets, prepare reports, and contribute to strategic planning initiatives.

**About the Division**:
The Correctional Services Division of the Ministry of the Solicitor General is responsible for maintaining and operating provincial correctional institutions for adult offenders, 18 years and over, who are serving a sentence of up to two years less a day or who are awaiting criminal proceedings. This ministry is also responsible for the community supervision of persons on probation, conditional sentences, and provincial parole.

Deliver on Business Goals and Priorities

As the Food Services Manager, you will:

- Plan, supervise and coordinate food preparation, production, and delivery for the institution.
- Oversee ordering requirements, maintain inventories of food supplies, and authorize payment of monthly billings.
- Plan and post weekly menus using a computerized food services software.
- Establish and implement effective and efficient food preparation and production methods.
- Inspect kitchen, dishwashing, and distribution areas to ensure cleanliness and a pest-free environment.
- Conduct inspections of equipment to ensure proper and safe operation, storage, waste management, and compliance with Public Health standards.
- Prepare and assume responsibility for the food services operating budget.
- Provide supervision, direction and training to staff and inmate helpers.
- Maintain data and records of meals served, including number and types of special diets/meals ordered and provided, and daily usage and losses.
