SNC-Lavalin Power and Renewables has an exciting full time career opportunity for an Engineering Work Package Manager (EWPM). Based out of our Burnaby offices, our Project EWPM’s are responsible for the timely and efficient coordination and delivery of transmission and substation projects for major utility clients.
Projects vary in size and complexity, resulting in the necessity to manage multiple projects simultaneously. It is an expectation that the EWPM will manage activities including, but not limited to, budget, schedule, quality assurance, engineering, procurement support, construction management support and safety.
**How will you contribute to the team?**
- Responsible for leading project technical teams to develop and efficiently deliver effective technical solutions on large electricity utility projects. The solutions shall incorporate value engineering, safety by design, constructability, and hazard identification components.
- Develop budget and schedule targets in conjunction with the client, the SNC-L engineering team, and the SNC-L proposal team.
- Ensure that the schedule stays on track, inform the client of any risks and potential delays.
- Coordinate and lead a risk management workshop if required.
- Work with the client and engineering team to deliver the agreed technical scope, on time and within budget.
- Monitor progress of the engineering packages and provide accurate monthly forecasts to share internally and with the client.
- Coordinate and lead interdisciplinary meetings internally and with the client.
- Coordinate and lead quality control for review packages at all stages of the project cycle.
- Work with the engineering team and the client to resolve any issues.
- Close liaison with client and other utility representatives - ensuring client endorsement of the proposed solutions
- Co-ordinate multi-disciplinary activities and inputs by the technical team, including specialist inputs, to ensure an integrated technical solution.
- Review and seal key engineering delivery documents.
- Ensure all technical outputs conform to the project scope, are safe, fit for purpose and are of an appropriate quality that has been confirmed by an independent review and the client.
- Build strong working relationships both internally and with the client.
- Maintain reliable and consistent communications with all members of project team.
- Provide guidance and support to the project design delivery teams.
- Ensure the use of delivery systems as applicable.
**What will you Contribute?**
- Experienced electrical engineering professional (PEng) registered within BC (or has immediate eligibility for registration) with a sound technical understanding in the relevant field is required.
- Attention to detail is required.
- Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience as a Project Engineer or Project Discipline Lead within an EPCM or Project based environment is required.
- Experience with a major electrical utility is considered an asset.
- Experience in Substation and Transmission projects is considered an asset.
- Experience in engineering consultancy services is considered an asset.
- Demonstrable experience of the detailed design delivery model is required (this includes all phases of the project; Needs, Feasibility, Definition, Detailed Design, Construction and Close Out).
- Experience in leading multidisciplined teams delivering projects within the electricity utility sector is considered an asset.
- Experience working in a management capacity is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
