**Overview**

A Community Mentor is needed to promote and facilitate the delivery of the Right to Play program within the community. The Community Mentor will work with youth groups to recognize needs and interests, support the development of leadership, life skills and encourage community involvement. In partnership with Right to Play (RTP), the CM will be responsible for planning and implementation of a program geared toward health & any wellness outcomes for children and youth. Preference will be given to applicants who are of Aboriginal Descent.

**Key Responsibilities Include**:

- Coordinate child and youth programming; plan, lead and assess core program;
- Support the planning and implementation of events and initiatives;
- Build partnerships and program awareness;
- Administration and program evaluation; track and report on the successes and challenges of the program.
- Complete all attendance, impact and finance reporting in a timely fashion.
- Gather feedback on the program and share data back with RTP (as outlined in the partnership agreement).
- Analyze and implement key learnings into the program and/or future events.
- Provide regular updates to RTP Program Officers in regards to successes, and challenges of programs.
- Coordination of accommodations for RTP staff for scheduled visits.

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12 Graduate OSSD and/or College Diploma related to Community Services, Child and Youth Worker, Recreation and Leisure, Social Service Worker, Teaching, Early Childhood Education; or equivalent community and/or youth work experience.
- Trained or willingness to be trained in how to effectively facilitate recreation programming for youth
- Highly motivated self-starter and committed to program success.
- Positive attitude and with strengths-based approaches to working with children and youth.
- Sound organizational and time management skills
- Strong planning and coordination skills and decision-making skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Enthusiasm and ability to work with youth of a range of ages
- Good team work ethic, and capable of working independently
- Willing to receive training from Beausoleil First Nation and the Right to Play program
- Knowledge and/or willing to be trained for completion of reports and collecting data and statistics.
- Clear Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Search
- Experience working in youth programs, coaching, mentoring, or organizing community events an asset
- Experience facilitating workshops, coaching sports, or leading activities for groups of 10
- Due to the scope of the position, applicant MUST be available evenings and weekends.
- Driver's License would be considered an asset

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Pay: $20.60 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Christian Island, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
