You are an experienced optician and you enjoy building long-lasting relationships with patients and co-workers alike. You are very confident in your opticianry capabilities, but you also want to learn and grow further. **Core Responsibilities**: The Lead/Managing Optician is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the dispensary, mentoring team members, upholding clinical and retail standards, and supporting the practice's overall performance goals. This role requires a licensed optician with strong leadership capabilities, technical expertise, and a patient-first mindset. As a working manager, this person balances direct patient care with team development and operational oversight. - Oversee and manage all optical dispensary operations, including inventory, vendor relations, frame board management, and lab coordination. - Perform and supervise patient services including frame selection, lens consultation, measurements, fittings, adjustments, and troubleshooting. - Train, support, and mentor team members to ensure consistent service delivery, technical accuracy, and sales performance. - Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and ensure ethical dispensing practices. - Collaborate with the clinic owner and optometrist(s) to align optical goals with the broader vision of the practice. - Monitor performance metrics and implement strategies to improve capture rate, average sale value, and board turnover. - Manage quality control processes for glasses including troubleshooting, prescription checks, redo analysis, and supplier follow-ups. - Stay current with industry trends, product knowledge, and licensing requirements. - Leading the dispensing operation with responsibility for frame boards, glasses fittings, adjustments, repairs, and dispensing as per specifications or prescription - Assisting with pre-testing for Optometrist appointments if necessary **Leadership Qualities**: - Strong communicator who fosters team alignment and morale. - Decisive and solutions-oriented problem-solving. - Respected mentor who supports team growth through coaching and feedback. - Comfortable making performance-based decisions and giving direct, respectful feedback. - Takes initiative and ownership of the dispensary’s success. - Collaborative partner to the clinic owner and aligned with the practice’s mission and values. **Qualifications**: - A minimum of 5 years of optical experience as an optician - Demonstrated experience leading an optical dispensing operation - A professional, honest, and fun-loving positive attitude with a strong passion for delivering high quality customer service and achieving goals and targets - Highly knowledgeable with eyewear and lens products and technologies - Experience with board and inventory management - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English - Interest and knowledge in current eyewear trends and a good "eye" for fashion **Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $32.00-$35.00 per hour **Benefits**: - Casual dress - Company events - Store discount - Vision care **Experience**: - opticianry: 5 years (preferred) Licence/Certification: - license from the College of Opticians of Ontario (required) Work Location: In person
