Barrie Housing is currently seeking a Building Cleaner in a full-time capacity. Barrie Housing was incorporated in 1984, with the objective to provide and operate housing accommodation and recreational facilities primarily for persons of low or modest income at rentals below current rental market rates.

This is a full-time position (37.5 hours, Monday-Friday) at an hourly rate of $17.36.
- Possess a valid Ontario drivers’ license and a reliable vehicle. Required._
- Must pass vulnerable sector screening._

This position is responsible for performing custodial duties and miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner.

**Function Specific Duties**
- Cleans all offices, hallways, and common areas, daily.
- Vacuums and spot clean carpets, daily.
- Sweeps and mops all tile floors, daily.
- Cleans and sanitizes washrooms, daily.
- Spot cleans all horizontal and vertical surfaces, walls, light switches, and doors, daily.
- Empties and sanitizes waste receptacles, daily.
- Replenishes paper products and soap in laundry rooms, washrooms and common rooms, daily.
- Washes windows, cleans appliances and clears the grounds of refuse, daily.
- Cleans and sanitizes garbage rooms and equipment, daily.
- Wipes down elevators twice a day or as needed.
- Strips, seals and waxes floors when needed.
- Operates gas-powered machinery.
- Provide cleaning for unit turnovers when directed by Manager.
- Assists other Barrie Housing staff with the set up and taking down of equipment and furnishings for community development initiatives.
- Cleans the common/play rooms once booked/utilized.
- Reports any acts of vandalism to Maintenance Technician and Housing Support Worker.
- Participates in regular supervisory sessions with direct Manager.
- Participates in regular staff and unit meetings within the unit.
- Performs other related duties assigned.

**Education**
- Completion of High School Diploma or vocational equivalent.

**Knowledge**
- Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment.
- Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Ability to work under little supervision.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Demonstrates initiative to assist in other areas when requested or required.
- Ability to lift up to 30 kilograms.
- Possess a valid Ontario drivers licence and a reliable vehicle.
- Must pass vulnerable sector screening.
