Raptor Mining Products is a leading supplier of G.E.T. (ground engaging tools) and wear products for the mining, construction, power generation, and other heavy industries. We work closely with customers and suppliers to create innovative solutions to our customer needs and our heavy welding business is quickly expanding.

Raptor is looking for a Welding Specialist for the Edmonton, Alberta, Canada operation.

In this role, you will work closely with customers and Raptor branch offices on a variety of welding matters. As such, you are a strong and comfortable communicator who can work with people of diverse backgrounds and responsibilities.

Main responsibilities include:

- Quality documentation of welds (primarily of base edge assemblies and overlays)
- Weld failure analysis
- Advise on weld repair of castings
- Research and development of internal welding procedures and improvements, research and test new wires or PTA powders, and general process improvement
- Ensure welding compliance with our customer's requirements
- Develop, certify and maintain welding procedures for heavy welding, overlay, and casting repair
- Engage with large OEM's to build trust and convey expertise and confidence
- Interpret engineering drawings to provide feedback in line with Customer specifications and current capabilities and capacities to ensure we are setup for success.
- Identify where we are deficient and help work with facility principals to educate and justify capital investments
- Be an in-house champion ensuring we remain technology focused to reduce labor costs
- Lead rolling out a CWI in all facilities to be the eyes and ears to ensure we are meeting the quality expectations of our customers
- Work with and help modernize our ABB Fleet to ensure uptime is achieved as our overlay business continues to grow
- Advise all Raptor sites on welding matters

This position is in a lean organization which requires a highly motivated individual with the ability to work alone and expedite projects without direction from others.

You may be required to travel both within and outside of Alberta, for up to a week at a time. Visits with customers will require hands-on analysis of site equipment which at times can be dirty, hot and loud.

Preference will be given to those with ABB robotic welding experience, and AWS certification or joint CWB / AWS certification.

We are looking for the right person with a mix of experience be they an experienced welder, welding inspector or welding engineer

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $32.60-$43.26 per hour
