To ourselves, we are a faculty that is never satisfied with the status quo; dedicated to continually improving patient care, creating innovative learning opportunities for all learners, and advancing knowledge through research excellence. **Responsibilities**: The Research Assistant supports research and related activities for research projects, under the direction of a Principal Investigator, and in collaboration with research staff. The role will assist with research duties to support the operation of the laboratory, including assisting with laboratory maintenance and organization, and to facilitate the achievement of research results, including preparing and conducting experiments and techniques following set protocols and procedures in a research facility such as genotyping. The role provides support for clinical activities, including supporting research consent processes and updating related databases, and assists with compiling and analyzing research results. **Qualifications**: - Education: - 3-year University Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacology, Health Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry or relevant discipline (4-year preferred) **Experience**: - 1 year of experience supporting research implementation and/or related administrative activities in a research laboratory environment - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Familiarity with research techniques and practices - Communication skills with an ability to complete detailed analytics and reports - Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public - Attention to detail with an ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of data, while ensuring that information is accurate and comprehensive - Ability to follow formal processes and protocols with high attention to detail - Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities - Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn and use software programs - Excellent troubleshooting ability along with hands-on expertise in technical support - Ability to identify key results from research and to summarize and draft reports on research findings **Union Statement**: **Background Checks**: Please note, successful applicants may be required to produce a current police information record check from a police service prior to commencing employment. **Western Values Diversity**: **Please Note**: We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.
