Kwigwis has an opening for a part time cook to prepare snacks and lunch for daycare children Monday - Friday. The cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well prepared, nutritious meals and snacks. Working in the daycare environment the cook must be able to obtain a criminal record check for working in a daycare. A positive, relationship with staff, children and families while respecting privacy is required.
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.
- Physically able to perform the duties involved in preparing meals and sanitation
- Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.)
- Awareness of proper preparation of food for different eating abilities
- Have or willing to obtain Food Safe certificate. (Support available through daycare)
- Have or willing to obtain First aid certificate. (Support available through daycare)
- Have or willing to take health and nutrition course for children settings. (Support available through daycare)
- Have or willing to take basic child development course. (Support available through daycare)
- Ensure all food and other items are sorted properly
- Check quality of ingredients
- Monitor stock and maintain a shopping list
- Able to work without direct supervision
- Able to meet timelines
- Participate in menu planning
- Participate in shopping
- Ideally the cook will have a valid drivers license
- Responsible for fully cleaning the meal prep area and the catering area after all snacks and meals, including emptying and filling the dish washer, hand washing, sweeping the floor, wiping down tables, chairs, highchairs and putting away dishes
- Extra hours may be offered for special events
- Awareness of children’s allergies within the daycare
- Have or will develop the ability to portion food
- Other duties as requested

Starting wage $19.00 hr. Open until position filled.
