What you’ll be doing
The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides corporate, government and institutional clients with innovative solutions to help them raise capital, and grow and invest actively throughout North America and key financial centres around the world. To deliver on its vision to be our clients’ preferred capital markets banking partner across multiple products and services, both in Canada and where our core competencies can be exported. The Capital Markets mission is to bring Canadian Capital Markets products to Canada and the rest of the world, and also bring the world to Canada.
CIBC’s Global Markets business focuses on delivering expert financial and economic analysis and savvy deal-making capabilities to clients in Canada and around the world. The Global Markets team supports fixed income, foreign exchange, commodities, derivatives, equities and growth markets and is focused on building a strong, innovative relationship-oriented bank.
The Analyst, Money Market Trading, will develop the skills necessary to be a market-maker in Canadian Money Market products, including Treasury Bills, Commercial Paper and Asset-backed Commercial Paper.

- How you’ll succeed- Market-making - Knowledge of financial markets, credit risk and market risk in order to effectively structure trades and evaluate risk. Proven ability to pay close attention to detail and execute transactions within tight timeframes with an analytic/systematic approach. Analyze business requirements, design and implement automated solutions.-
- Client focus - Develop and sustain business partnerships with Government and Corporate issuers, investors and internal partners across Capital Markets and other CIBC business units.-
- Cross-functional relationships - Work with internal teams (Compliance, Risk Management, Technology, Treasury, Operations) to ensure adherence to all regulations and internal limits.-
- Business improvement - Focus on process optimization and automation for the Money Market desk.- Who you are- You have relevant education & industry experience. Bachelor’s degree with a preference for quantitative programs. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a keen interest in financial markets.-
- You possess the required technical skills. Expert-level MS Excel user. Development skills in Python and VBA.-
- You thrive in a trading floor environment. Required to make frequent decisions in a fast paced, open concept work environment; ability to handle tight deadlines and heavy workload.-
- You are naturally collaborative. Solid verbal and written communication skills. An ability to effectively manage interactions across various functional groups.-
