**Position Overview**:
Under the general supervision of the Financial Services Supervisor, the position is responsible for maintaining records for flat rate customers, preforming collection functions, providing alternative payment plans to flat rate customers and metered customers based on established protocol, performing the cashier function as back up including the receipt of various payments. The position is also responsible for generating work orders for the installation and maintenance of water meters and issuing bills for water metered customers.

Responsibilities also include preparing and issuing miscellaneous invoicing and collecting for various civic departments including re-occurring charges for one third of total accounts. Rotating responsibilities in reconciling Accounts Receivables monthly. Additional responsibilities in assisting with metered accounts billing as necessary.

**Illustrated Examples of Work**:
Responds to internal/external customer inquiries and/or requests.

Provides information pertaining to customer master files.

Prepares and issues miscellaneous invoicing for various civic departments (one third) including re-occurring charges.

Balances and reconciles accounts.

Prepares month-end journal entries to record revenue.

Reviews building permits to determine billing information.

Issues flat rate, water metered and miscellaneous bills.

Reviews and generates Utility Management System reports.

Works with clients on past due accounts and the maintenance of all records; responds to all calls regarding outstanding accounts.

Acts as a customer contact point for meter related matters.

Calculates and posts adjustments, charges, and reliefs.

Prepares tax receipts for customers upon request.

Administers all required activities related to meter accounts.

Forwards letters of notification.

Negotiates alternative payment plans through the use of established protocol and follows up with clients.

Notifies clients regarding pending water disconnection.

Researches and retrieves property ownership information.

Notifies collection agencies with respect to overdue accounts.

Acts as back-up cashier; receives and processes various payments.

Responds to inquiries pertaining to citations.

Reconciles daily cash and receipts.

Reconciles Accounts Receivables on a rotating basis.

Notifies the Water & Sewerage Division for re-connection of water service.

Opens, sorts, and processes the mail.

Prepares correspondence and mail outs.

Performs general office duties as required including keyboarding, photocopying, filing, and answering telephone inquiries.

**Essential Qualifications**:
A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Systems is required.

Excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.

A community college diploma in Business Administration with an option in Accounting, or a university Business Certificate 1 and an Accounting Certificate, or Business Certificate 1 and Business Certificate 2 or an equivalent program with concentration in accounting.

Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accounting role.

The successful applicant will work a compressed work week of 4 days (Monday to Thursday) under the City’s newly adopted Compressed Work Week Policy Trial.
