**Description**:
Hi there, we’re Article. We’re an online furniture company creating remarkably better furniture experiences one sofa at a time. We’re looking for an experienced
**Controller **to oversee and continuously improve processes surrounding financial accounting, internal reporting, systems and controls for Article.

**Why We Need You**:
As the Controller, you will work closely with the Finance department and Particles across departments to provide valuable insights that drive financial performance and long-term value creation. You enjoy identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and utilizing technology to evolve our processes and reporting.

**What You'll Do**:

- Manage and lead a high-performing accounting team (of 18 and growing) including development and mentorship
- Acts as a business partner and develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders to plan, direct and coordinate all operational accounting functions
- Build the financial foundation that will allow the Article to scale further. This means identifying and implementing process and technology improvements with the cross-functional support of our technology teams
- Continuously improve the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process
- Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
- Own and continuously improve internal reporting including the preparation of variance analysis and reporting for internal management and the board of directors
- Own and continuously improve external reporting provided to key external stakeholders including lenders and investors
- Oversight of the audit process with external auditors to deliver an efficient and effective audit
- Actively work towards establishing and enhancing formal processes for internal controls
- Assess current accounting operations, implementing improvements and new processes
- Work closely with the financial planning team to provide timely accurate information for analysis, budgeting, and forecasting purposes
- Support the leadership team with information vital to the decision-making process
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and working closely with the Tax Manager

**About our Finance Team**

**Team size**: The greater Finance team is currently around 30 team members in Canada and Vietnam. This includes FP&A, tax, legal and planning competencies.

Direct reports include Manager, Financial Reporting, Accounting Manager (Vietnam), Accounting Manager (Vancouver), Tax Manager and AP Manager.

**Your Team**:You will lead the accounting team building out internal reporting, operational accounting, internal controls, automation of everything and all things accounts payable.

**Hybrid Work & Team Dynamics**:Our team is typically working together from our Vancouver office Monday to Thursday with the remaining days work from home. We are a very collaborative team that works closely together in tackling issues and implementing solutions. We also have a lot of fun together

**Who You Are**:

- CPA with 7+ years progressive experience in accounting and audit in multi-entity, fast-paced environments
- Experience building scalable finance teams using technology to automate finance processes
- Natural ability to collaborate with a win-together mindset
- Strong technical accounting skills, and knowledgeable in US GAAP
- Experience with Canadian and US tax
- Strong knowledge in designing and implementing SOX controls
- Proficiency and comfort with web-based technologies, Google Suite, and accounting software
- Experience with Netsuite an asset
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to evaluate alternatives and provide recommendations on business issues
- Ability to work in an open team environment while handling confidential information
