**Job Posting**

Crosswalk Guards are responsible for providing a safe and secure crosswalk for elementary children at designated school crosswalks in HRM.

**Dartmouth & Eastern Passage**
- Victoria Road & Thistle Street
- Glen Manor Drive & Crichton Avenue
- Flying Cloud Drive & Gregory Drive
- Prince Arthur & Fenwick Street

**Halifax**
- Collindale Road & Pearl Avenue
- Sussex Street & Herring Cove Road
- Main Avenue & Willet Street

**Fairview, Clayton Park, Bedford & Sackville**
- Cavalier Drive & Cavendish Drive

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Safely escort elementary school children across busy crosswalks throughout HRM
- Enforce all policies and procedures in the operation of the crosswalk
- Abides by all laws dealing with pedestrian traffic at the crosswalk
- Reports any problems or safety concerns arising at the assigned crosswalk to the Supervisor or Program Manager.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education and Experience**:

- Currently employed with CUPE Local 4814 as a regular part-time Crosswalk Guard
- Currently employed as a spare crosswalk guard, an asset.

**Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities**:

- Ability to stand or walk 2 - 3 ½ hours a day and be exposed to all weather conditions
- Ability to maintain control under pressure
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Possess adequate vision and hearing.

**Security Clearance Requirements**: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.

**COMPETENCIES**: Communications, Customer Service, Valuing Diversity.

**WORK STATUS**:Regular, Seasonal (10-months per year)

**HOURS OF WORK**:The current daily scheduled hours for this position are Monday through Friday; 2 - 3.5 hours per day.

**SALARY**: The hourly rate for this position is $17.75 in accordance with the collective agreement between CUPE Local 4814 and Halifax Regional Municipality.

**WORK LOCATION**: Various locations throughout HRM.
