Position Title Instructor, Emergency First Response Team (EFRT) Department/Section Clinical Affairs Employment Status Permanent Full Time Targeted Salary Range $83,767.56-$99,474.48 Work Mode Hybrid (2 Days Per Week) Existing Vacancy New Position Number of Openings 2 Location Head Office or Any Base Location Hours of Work 37.5 hours/week Posting Open Date July 7, 2025 Posting Close Date July 21, 2025 Uplifting Your Career at Ornge Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Education Programs, the Instructor, Emergency First Response Team (EFRT) will primarily facilitate the delivery of all training and education associated with the EFRT program, to support and enhance patient outcomes and ongoing EFRT program growth. Within the Clinical Affairs department, the Instructor is additionally responsible for proctoring and evaluating any formative and summative assessments associated with the EFRT training and education programming, on behalf of the Ornge EFRT Medical Director. They will also function as supports to design and redesign educational materials and EFRT courses, as needed, ensuring adherence to high standards of patient care through collaboration with clinical leaders and partners. As an Instructor, they will represent Ornge in a professional manner, developing and maintaining positive relationships with community members, through respect and cultural awareness and competence. Key Accountabilities: - Ensures student awareness of course objectives, approach to education delivery and evaluation techniques. - Conducts regularly scheduled instruction. - Provides opportunities on a regular basis for students and community coordinators to connect and provide course feedback and clarifications on material. - Provides formative feedback and academic counseling of students. - Participate and support Student Success Plans, as required. - Evaluates and assesses learner achievement/progression and course effectiveness. - As directed by Medical Director, Program Lead, Manager, and colleagues in Operations, contributes to the design, development, and evaluation of EFRT initial and recurrent education programming. - Develops operational training to maintain high patient care standards. - Provides advice on textbooks and learning materials in accordance with course objectives/instructional needs. - Ensures compliance with any accreditation or certification standards and supports instructional design for asynchronous learning activities. - Leads "train-the-trainer" sessions for new Instructors or other staff involved in education delivery, as required. - Assists Manager and Program Lead in planning equipment and space needs for course delivery. - Introduces innovative instructional concepts and techniques to enhance student learning and fosters positive and safe learning environments for colleagues and learners (including but not limited to cultural, emotional, and physical safety) - Participates in program oversight committee and sub-committees as requested and/or nominated. - Participates in regular Faculty meetings to discuss program, course and student concerns/issues, feedback from Medical Director, Manager, and Program Lead or review of data trends with respect to programs. - As required, conducts quality assurance (QA) auditing in alignment with Medical Advisory Committee and Medical Director mandated aspects of the QA program, under the guidance of the Program Lead - Quality Improvement & Standards. - Participates in quality improvement initiatives as directed by departmental or organizational needs. - Facilitates formative and summative evaluation, as part of initial and continuing education, as required. - Facilitates and assessments required by the Medical Director, for the purposes of medical delegation and authorization to provide care. - Assists the Manager, Clinical Education Programs, Medical Advisory Committee (MAC), and Medical Director in designing, developing, and implementing evidence-informed clinical practice/treatment guidelines, medical directives, and practice resources that enhance patient care delivery and outcomes. - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: - Ontario High School Diploma, or equivalent is required. - Current First-Aid and BLS Instructor status with Canadian Red Cross Society, or willingness to obtain. - A minimum of 5-6 years of experience is required. - G Class Driver’s License is required
