Friends of Ruby is dedicated to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth aged 16-29 through mental health services, social programs, and housing. We operate a **Youth Drop-In Centre**, offering barrier-free counselling, hot meals, and community programming, and a **Transitional Home**, providing emergency and long-term housing with life-skills support. This position will be mainly supporting the transitional home.

We are looking for a **Residential Housing Worker**who identifies as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to provide mental health and counselling support to 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, including those with intersectional identities of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC). **About the Role**

As a **Residential** Housing Worker**, you will be responsible for:

- **Youth Support**: Provide individualized coaching, develop and implement goal plans, and support youth in building life skills (e.g., financial literacy, cooking, communication, problem-solving).
- **Crisis Intervention & Case Management**: Use de-escalation techniques in crisis situations, offer case management, and help youth navigate internal and external support systems.
- **Teamwork & Collaboration**: Work with Case Workers, Youth Program Workers, and Clinical Counselors to ensure wrap-around supports for youth.
- **Relationship Building & Empowerment**: Foster trusting, professional relationships with youth using strengths-based, client-centered, harm reduction, and anti-oppressive approaches to support their development and long-term goals.
- **Documentation & Administration**:
Maintain thorough documentation (e.g., shift change notes, safety plans, care plans incident reports), conduct suite checks, submit repair reports, and participate in meetings and training.
- **Community**Relations**:Collaborate with community partners and referral agencies to address the unique needs of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and promote recovery and quality of life through formal and informal resource networks.

**What You Bring**
- **Education**:Post-secondary degree or diploma in social work, social sciences, or human services—or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training will be considered. Current First Aid and CPR Certification is required.
- **Experience**: 3+ years of experience in crisis intervention and de-escalation, preferably in transitional or emergency shelter settings.
- **Lived & Professional Experience**: Lived experience as a 2SLGBTQIA+ individual and experience working with marginalized populations, especially within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
- **Knowledge Base**: Housing First for Youth model, harm reduction principles, Toronto Shelter Standards, and SMIS. Familiarity with TREAT is considered an asset.
- **Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression (ARAO)**:Demonstrated through strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to navigate diverse environments while promoting fairness and inclusive practices.
