**Ladysmith Family and Friends (LaFF)** Family Resource Program is seeking a fun loving, creative and caring individual to join our close-knit team to support our families and deliver quality programming during a variety of LaFF’s activities and programs. This is a part-time/on call position.

Main responsibilities will include welcoming families; facilitating programs; encouraging participation by families in all aspects of program; creating and implementing play-based learning activities; maintaining program equipment and representing and promoting LaFF positively within the community.

**Ladysmith Family and Friends -**_**Program Facilitators**_

LaFF Facilitators will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Executive Director to ensure quality program delivery to the families that attend Ladysmith Family and Friends resource program.

**Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Welcoming Families_
- Greet and familiarize families with the program.
- Facilitate set up of tables, supplies, stations, coffee and food.
- Encourage participation by families in all aspects of the program, including daily duties and volunteering for special projects.
- Establish and maintain rapport with families.
- Program Delivery and Maintenance_
- Create and implement a variety of play-based learning stations which promote parent - child interaction.
- Interact with children based on their developmental level.
- Attend any inter-agency meetings as delegated by the Executive Director on LaFF’s behalf.
- Assist with building a volunteer base for participation within the organization and its sanctioned events.
- Facilitate appropriate resource supports for families.
- Facilitate and support participants with respect to their culture and values.
- Regularly clean toys, eliminate hazards, and perform safety checks of all equipment.
- Sign in all participants and facilitate data collection and stats of program attendance.
- Purchase craft and food supplies.
- Organize donations and storage areas.
- Manage daily cash intake, including recording and securing money appropriately.
- Appropriately represent and promote LaFF within the community.
- Maintain confidential ties with families and information sharing with LaFF staff as appropriate
- Coordinate, prepare, and deliver community wellness packages (plants, food packages, craft kits, etc.) as appropriate.
- Plan, implement, and facilitate special program initiatives (i.e. Roots to Thrive), including communications and participant recruitment.
- Utilize personal protection equipment (PPE) when appropriate.
- Assist Executive Director in implementation of on-line programming and community support initiatives.
- Communication_
- Timely reporting of any incidents occurring at LaFF to the Executive Director both verbally and written in accordance with LaFF procedures.
- Timely submission of time sheets to the administrative assistant for processing and approval by the Executive Director.
- Staff Development_
- Seek and participate in staff enrichment opportunities.
- Maintain First Aid and CPR and Food Safe certification.
- Awareness and knowledge of community resources.
- Maintain updated best practices of Family Resource Programming.
- Recognize when there is a Duty to Report of child abuse & neglect.

**Qualifications**:

- Background and experience in working with families, caregivers and children, including those with diverse needs.
- Formal education in a family centered training program, early childhood education or certificate in child and family development.
- Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care.
- Ability to work with a diverse participant base of families and children.
- Excellent communication skills, positive outlook, open to hearing feedback and ability to problem solve.
- Must maintain confidentiality, professionalism & exercise appropriate boundaries with families.
- Current First Aid, CPR and Food Safe Certifications.
- Completion of Family Resource Worker Program of BC considered an asset.

**Terms of Employment**:

- This position consists of variable hours to be set in conjunction with program needs and budgetary directives.
- Hours of work will be reflective of program schedules and LaFF special events.
- The term of this position is directly affected and contingent on continued funding of the program.

*In the event of emergent situations (i.e. Covid 19) it is the ED’s responsibility, in compliance with Provincial Guidelines, to support staff to modify the programs to ensure their safety and the safety of program participants.
