The Office of the Wet'suwet'en was created as a central office for the Wet'suwet'en Nation. The Office offers many services throughout the traditional territories focusing on the main areas of Lands and Resources, Fisheries & Wildlife, Human and Social Services and Governance.

The Office of the Wet'suwet'en is located in Smithers, BC. Our office has been in its operation since 1994 however was affiliated with the Gitxsan Nation for many years. Our office is not an Indian band or tribal council. The Office of the Wet'suwet'en does not receive core funding (continuous funding from one year to the next) from any form of Government.

Based on the priorities set by the Board of Directors, staff must negotiate program funding through various sources from; federal and provincial governments and foundations. This situation creates added responsibility for management to ensure that programs meet goals to illustrate successes and generate support for continued funding. Accessing new monies requires proactive and persistent leadership while ensuring program goals are being met and growth is effective.

Our office is governed by the Wet'suwet'en Hereditary Chiefs residing throughout the traditional territories. The Chiefs meet at least monthly and often weekly to address specific issues that management needs direction for. Meetings are held throughout the territories in various locations.

The Project Coordinator position has been created to support the Natural Resources department projects and initiatives occurring on the Yintah (territory). The Natural Resources department advocates for culturally sustainable stewardship on the Yintah and facilitates Wet’suwet’en Decision-making processes for the Clans and Houses within the Yintah, on water and land-based activities. This position requires someone with excellent organizational, facilitation, and communication skills, and an ability to manage contracts, budgets, and complex scopes of work. The Project Coordinator will assist the Natural Resources department in achieving success with their projects and initiatives by performing these duties.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to and working with the Natural Resources Manager, the Project Coordinator will:

- Work closely with the Natural Resources Manager and support/technical teams to identify various project needs and the corresponding resources and actions required to address those needs;
- Work closely with support/project teams to develop work plans and convene and coordinate assessments, reporting and meetings to progress project work;
- Develop communications and where warranted decision support tools (i.e., briefing notes, memos, monthly status reports, discussion papers, etc.) for the Natural Resources Manager;
- Conduct membership outreach with support/projects teams;
- Complete accurate record keeping (meeting minutes), file and document management;
- Other tasks necessary for coordination of a project as directed by the Natural Resources Manager.

**Qualifications**:

- Clean Criminal Record Check.
- Province of BC Driver’s Licence.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant field and/or significant relevant experience coordinating complex natural resource management projects and initiatives.
- Previous work with Indigenous communities and/or substantial knowledge of Indigenous rights, title, and governance structures.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (e.g., Gmail, Calendar).

**Preferred Skills**:

- An understanding of Wet’suwet’en culture, history, and values.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team setting, preferably coordinating, and overseeing multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working with both internal teams and external teams working to a common goal.
- Experience with contract management, project budgeting, and project scope management.
- Experience organizing, facilitating, and documenting both virtual and in-person meetings.
- Self-motivated with strong time management.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment where priorities and schedules can quickly shift.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with competing deadlines.
- Ability to work independently without supervision, seeking direction when needed.
- Familiar with the challenges of working to build trust and support within project teams, communities and amongst leadership.
- Flexible and able to work with community members and, as warranted, leadership outside of regular office hours (i.e., evenings and weekends).
- Experience working with sensitive or confidential material.
