**What’s the ask?**
Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller would manage the corporate finance department which includes overseeing accounts receivable, accounts payable, month-end processing, and compliance. This individual would be responsible for reviewing the team’s work and answering their questions, as well as the development of their team members through frequent performance feedback. This individual should be self-motivated and enjoy working collaboratively with others.

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead projects that promote company growth initiatives and efficiencies
- Prepare forecasts and analyze financial information to support business leader decision making
- Oversee month-end close process to ensure all entries are posted and review reconciliations to ensure balance sheet accounts are well-supported and accurate
- Coordinate with audit firm and help our finance team provide the correct support to the auditors in a timely manner
- Evaluate controls and processes to ensure risks are effectively managed throughout the organization and find solutions for control gaps identified
- Support, develop, and lead the finance team through coaching and providing opportunities for growth and more challenging work, including reviewing performance of direct reports and providing feedback on an ongoing basis
- Prepare year-end financial statements in accordance with Canadian accounting standards for private enterprises
- Lead the annual budget process which involves coordinating with line of business leaders and analyzing overall results
- Review & approve outgoing payments ensuring company policies are being followed
- Monitor licensing and corporate compliance
**What does it take?**
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
- Two or more years of managing an accounting team
- Sound knowledge of Canadian generally accepted accounting principles
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
- Comfortable dealing with company personnel at various levels
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
