**About the Alice Turner Library**

The Alice Turner Library is located at 110 Nelson Road. It is located near the Forestry Farm Park & Zoo and directly adjacent to two high schools, making it a popular destination for teenagers and for many young families in the surrounding area. This location also houses SPL's Collections Services, Marketing & Communications, and Planning & Assessment departments. Opened in 1998, the Alice Turner Library was the first library in Canada to be built to the stands of C-2000 construction, Canada's environmental building code. It is named after Alice Turner McFarland, who was a library employee for 37 years and SPL's chief librarian from 1981 to 1989.

**Position Overview**

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Neighbourhood Services, the Manager, Branches is an integral member of the management team who is responsible for all aspects of the branch. The Manager, Branches ensures services, policies and practices are appropriate for their branch as well as to support the needs of our community in alignment with SPL’s Community-Led service model and Strategic Plan.

The Manager, Branches ensures strategic alignment in the hiring, training and evaluation of employees; the design and delivery of services provided at the library and in the community; the appearance and impression of the physical space; and all aspects of patron-employee experiences within their library. This individual is also responsible for diffusing sensitive patron matters.

The Manager, Branches works collaboratively with SPL’s Directors’ team, Management team, employees, stakeholders and the public to achieve objectives set out in SPL’s Strategic Plan. Familiarity with the library’s Community-Inspired Service Philosophy is also required.

Library services are always evolving and the Manager, Branches acts as a change agent while ensuring they are perceptive of the effect these changes have on the employees and patrons at their library.

The Manager, Branches acts as an advisor to the Senior Manager, Neighbourhood Services and may be required to assume temporary operational responsibility for all Saskatoon neighbourhood libraries in the absence of the Senior Manager.

**Qualifications**
- Masters of Library Science or Masters of Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
- Minimum of three years’ progressive professional experience in public library services, including a minimum of two years’ leadership, supervisory and management experience.
- Ability to travel independently to and between SPL activities and locations as needed.
