**About You**

You should be patient and understanding, recognizing the diverse needs and abilities of each senior under your care. You’ll demonstrate a keen sense of observation, attentively identifying the interests, hobbies, and preferences of residents, in order to tailor engaging and meaningful recreational activities. Your creativity shines through as you develop and implement a diverse range of programs that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being, aiming to enhance quality of life and foster a sense of community. With your natural enthusiasm and knack for organization, you’ll ensure that all activities run smoothly, creating a safe and enjoyable environment. Above all, you possess a deep respect for the wisdom and life experiences of residents, modelling our Baptist Housing values in all your interactions with residents and team members. You should have completed Grade 12 and a recognized recreational course like Activity Aide or Recreation Assistant. You should also hold a current Food Safe Certificate, and a First Aid Certificate that meets licensing requirements (minimum 8 hours of class time), such as Emergency First Aid for Community Care. A minimum of one year of experience implementing recreation programs in residential care is required. However, a combination of education, training, and experience may also be considered.

**About The Role**

You will demonstrate servant leadership by serving the needs of others and fostering positive relationships with residents, team members, families, and partners. You'll participate in the Wellness Model of Care and actively engage in multi-tasking and multi-skilling to promote active living and continuity of care. By creating a safe and empowering environment, you will stimulate residents' interests and abilities, encourage normalized activities, and respect their autonomy and dignity. You'll provide input into the planning and development of recreational programs and assess individual resident needs. You will implement social and recreational programs, set up activity areas, maintain equipment and supplies, and ensure cleanliness and safety. You will assist residents with mobility, personal care, and exercises; provide direction and training to volunteers, and accompany residents on outings. Additionally, you will assist with mealtime support, maintain confidentiality, document residents' progress, observe and report changes, and prioritize their professional development. You will also contribute to a culture of health and safety, identify and correct hazards, and adhere to infection control policies. Finally, you will fulfill other assigned duties, leveraging their individual strengths.
