**The Opportunity**
The Benefits Program Department administers a range of benefits plans including Deferred Salary Leave, Dental Plans, Disability Income, Extended Health Care, and Group Life Insurance to nearly 150 participating employers. These employers include Executive Government, Crown Corporations, and various Agencies, Boards, and Commissions.
Plannera is seeking a values-based leader with a proven ability to drive results to serve as Director of Benefit Programs. Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Member Services and serving as a member of Plannera’s senior leadership team, the Director of Benefit Programs is responsible for:
- Providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and resource planning for the Benefit Programs team to ensure effective and efficient program delivery.
- Collaborating on governance activities, policy development, and compliance monitoring for benefit plans.
- Advising senior officials on benefit plan design, administration, risks, projects, and opportunities, and representing the plans in mediation, dispute resolution, and litigation when necessary.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, including participating employers, members, government bodies, and third-party service providers.
- Developing and maintaining systems to monitor, evaluate, and improve program performance, plan design, and service quality.
- Ensuring alignment with legislation, regulations, organizational policies, and risk management requirements.

- Knowledge and experience in a senior leadership position within the benefits industry or an equivalent field, demonstrating a strong focus on member outcomes and operational excellence;
- Proven leadership skills with significant senior management experience, including a track record of achieving results through strategic direction, sound decision-making, and building strong stakeholder relationships.
Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through a combination of:
- Completion of post-secondary education in business, commerce, or a related discipline;
- Relevant experience and/or knowledge in the benefit administration field, with a strong commitment to service quality and member satisfaction.
