Launched in 2017, Medical Marijuana Consulting, a Sensi Brands company, is focused on providing white-glove services to our patients and supporting them at every stage of their medical cannabis journey. Our experienced, licensed healthcare practitioners and patient advisors provide patients with education, dosing guidance, assistance with compassionate pricing, LP registration, etc. To ensure the patients have as smooth an experience as possible.
All our services are offered virtually, via phone and video consultations with patients, ensuring easy access for patients who may be faced with mobility issues, concerned about privacy or who don’t wish to be at risk during the pandemic. The MMC team understands how challenging the system can be, that is why we go above and beyond to help patients achieve successful outcomes with their treatment.
Reporting to the GM of our Medical division, this position will be focused on providing special assessments for our Veteran patients, assessing motor vehicle accident patients, and providing general consultations to patients seeking medical cannabis as a treatment option.
The role will work closely with our Patient Advisors to provide support and guidance to our patients throughout their medical cannabis journey. Patient consultations whether they be for special assessments or general consultations will included reviewing patient history, determining their symptoms and treatment needs, authorizing if eligible and providing direction on recommended product formats and dosing.
This role will be supported by Patient Advisors who will provide the more in-depth cannabis education and assist patients with selecting their LP (Licensed Producers) and registration.
**Key Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and recommend options to relieve pain, restore mobility and prevent reoccurrence so clients can lead healthy active lives
- Completing special assessments for Veteran patients seeking an increase in coverage from VAC
- Carry out consultations and treatment plans for motor vehicle accident patients seeking auto insurance coverage from their adjusters
- Providing consultations with general patients seeking medical cannabis treatment options
- Ensure patient records are administrated, stored, and retained in compliance with PIPEDA and PHIPA Legislation and uphold patient confidentiality and privacy
- Maintaining clear and thorough charts/encounter notes for each consultation, special assessment, etc. in our EMR platform
- Authorizing patients for medical cannabis via a medical document
- Answering patient questions regarding cannabis and recommended product formats
- Consulting with patients via phone or video appointments through our virtual platform
- Working with Patient Advisors regarding admin tasks or clarification of instructions for patients
**Qualifications and Requirements**
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience authorizing cannabis for patients and generating special assessments for patients
- Must have Medical Doctorate and be specialized in psychiatry or pain management
- Must be licensed (and in good standing) in province of Ontario with the Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
- Clear passion for and solid understanding of cannabis and cannabis-based products and passionate about providing exceptional patient care
- Proficiency and experience working with an electronic medical record (EMR) software e.g., Input Health
- Experience with telemedicine concept and platforms
- Must have excellent technology skills and strong proficiency of all Microsoft Suite Software's including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Flexibility is required and shifts will vary
