The Ministry of Long-Term Care, Inspections Branch, is seeking Program Specialists to manage, plan, design, develop and deliver inspections training to registered health professionals performing inspections across a range of clinical areas (e.g., wound care, restraints, responsive behaviours, medication administration, abuse, neglect, infection, prevention and control, etc.) to ensure compliance with legislation and to support learning.
**About the job**: In this role, you will:
- Manage the implementation of the education strategy to support Long-Term Care (LTC) Home inspectors representing a variety of regulated health professions and allied professions for a broad geographic region, training in the field as well as classroom, and working collaboratively with other training leads across all District Offices across the province of Ontario.
- Utilize clinical knowledge and expertise to ensure training materials and specific training to inspectors identifies the appropriate steps required to effectively inspect in complex clinical areas.
- Manage the co-ordination of field experience training sites to test out new approaches to auditing and monitoring the integrity of inspection methodology.
- Design, utilize and deliver training sessions and modules using various training approaches and modalities in keeping with adult learning principles and best practices.
- Recommend changes, improvements and refinements in approach to inspection methodology (ex. streamlining inspection processes).
- Implement, manage and monitor select aspects of the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Program related to inspections.
- Supervise inspectors during training and provides guidance, re-direction, and support to address issues that may affect performance and consistency.
- Provide guidance and advice to District Managers and program staff to support them in discharging their inspection responsibility.
- Consult and collaborate with Clinical Consultants and leadership team, to exchange ideas and information, and make decisions relative to inspection training, policy and program development and implementation.
**What you bring to the team**:
**Mandatory requirements**:
- You must be a member in good standing of one of the **regulated health professions in Ontario (ex. Registered Nurse, Registered Dietitian, Registered Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, or Speech-Language Pathologist)** to ensure inspectors are trained in the appropriate steps required to effectively inspect in complex clinical areas.
- You must be** eligible to be certified as a Long-Term Care Home Inspector**, in order to develop and deliver LTC Inspection training.
**Managerial Skills**:
- You have demonstrated leadership, change management, risk management and managerial skills to lead staff, program and service delivery in a change and transformational environment.
- You have excellent formal/informal complaints/dispute resolution skills
- You understand the principles of strategic planning, organizational and project management skills to provide strategic leadership in the development, implementation and management of plans, operational/business plans and service delivery processes.
- You have business and financial management skills.
- You have project management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities and lead projects.
**Specialized Knowledge**:
- You possess knowledge of principles and approaches in adult learning and their implementation to manage the development and implementation of a program-wide education strategy, and design and deliver training sessions and modules.
- You have knowledge of Government planning processes, program performance measures, and program effectiveness criteria to establish, implement and manage the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program which monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the inspection program's adherence to inspection methodology and program performance standards.
**Interpersonal and Influencing Skills**:
- You have collaboration and interpersonal skills to work with external consultants and vendors.
- You have persuasion and advisory skills to advise senior management on the quality of training and inspections.
- You have persuasion skills to advise senior management on emerging issues which may impact the education and training received by inspectors.
