**Some of what you will do**
The Manager, Growth Category Sales is responsible for managing a team of assigned specialists who support Staples customers Sales associates across various business channels at Staples including Supreme, Denis, Staples Professional and
Staples Preferred.
Activities include recruiting and hiring, territory and coverage model development, coaching and developing of specialists and ensuring specialized product knowledge is maintained and up to date.
The manager will support specialists, participate in sales calls, coach to monthly activity, and results, while managing the team to deliver company growth category objectives.
The role will require the ability to identify, recruit, interviews, manage, coach, and develop the ongoing performance of the team which will include specialists in the growth categories of Facilities, Technology, Furniture, Print & Promotional Marketing to deliver sales and margin targets.
**Specifically, you will**
Team Support & ongoing team management: 70-80%
- Deliver sales and margins to aggressively grow our key growth categories within our existing customer base, by using a team selling approach.
- Recruit, hire, train, support, educate and support team of growth category sales specialists.
- Exercises independent judgment and responsibility for customer profitability of and supports the ongoing Staples strategy of planning, executing, and submitting customer RFP’s, quotes and opportunities in conjunction with the general selling organization.
- Create and manage ongoing training programs and continued skill development for team members including accountability to SFDC utilization as well as other systems support.
- Drives associate engagement within a blended team environment.
- Create and maintain an environment that promotes excellent communication as well as fostering teamwork with the sales teams.
- Conduct team performance appraisals in line with Staples Performance Appraisal process and conducts appropriate coaching and performance management activity with team.
- Provides clear direction on Staples objectives to the team.
Collaborate with peers and internal departments: 10-20%
- Participate as an effective and contributing member of the management team.
- Provides continuous improvement initiatives related to growth categories.
- Works closely with merchandising, procurement, pricing and marketing to ensure our services and products remain current and market competitive.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers where applicable.
Business Strategy: 10%
- Provides strategy input to shape our growth categories based on market trends and competitive information.
**Some of what you need**
- Completion of college/university.
- 6-8 years management experience preferred.
- 6 years+ working with a CRM tool, preferably SFDC.
- Previous leadership or sales experience and knowledge within facilities, technology, or furniture preferred.
- Effective communication
- Ability to lead, coach, and drive effective team results.
- Adaptability and ability to thrive in a growing environment.
- Bilingual EN/FR would be considered an asset.
- Ability to lead a hybrid team.
