- We are currently recruiting a full-time, permanent Municipal Energy Project Manager for our Facility, Fleet, and Transit Services department.
- What is the Opportunity?
- Reporting to the Director of Facility, Fleet, and Transit Services, the Municipal Energy Project Manager leads the City’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency across municipal facilities, fleet, and transit systems. Key responsibilities include developing, implementing, and overseeing carbon reduction projects, managing energy efficiency upgrades, integrating renewable energy, and ensuring operational sustainability.
- Additionally, this role oversees utility contracts to secure cost-effective energy rates and monitor usage across municipal operations. The manager also supports the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP), leads community energy-efficiency projects, and secures funding and grants to advance the City’s carbon reduction targets.
- What will you do?- Develop and implement a facility-specific roadmap for carbon reduction projects, aligned with ASHRAE Level 3/Carbon Audit and long-term sustainability goals- Track, analyze and benchmark facility energy usage data, generating actionable insights for continuous improvement and greenhouse gas reduction- Guide the development and ongoing assessment of an energy management plan and monitor its implementation- Track and monitor fuel consumption and emissions for municipal fleet and transit systems, aligning with carbon reduction and sustainability targets- Explore opportunities for electrification, alternative fuels and sustainable vehicle technology to improve fleet and transit energy efficiency- Manage the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP), ensuring program accessibility and providing energy coaching for participants in the community- Secure funding and grants to support energy efficiency, renewable energy and greenhouse gas reduction projects across all municipal operations
- What do you need to succeed?- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering with a focus on climate change, energy management or facilities or a related field- The following credentials will be considered an asset(s): Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Certified Energy Manager in Training (EMIT), Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), Certified Practitioner in Energy Management Systems (CP EnMS) or other similar certifications.- Five (5) years of experience in environmental, engineering or facilities project management or a related field- Familiarity with energy efficiency, renewable energy, greenhouse gas inventories, climate mitigation and/or adaptation initiatives will be considered an asset- Experience with municipal operations or project management will be considered an asset- Experience managing and negotiating utility contracts would be desirable- Competitive salary- LAPP pension- Comprehensive health, dental and wellness benefits, including a healthcare spending account- Annual City of Leduc recreation pass, including access to free drop-in programs- Professional development opportunities- Starting at 3 weeks’ vacation per year- Free parking
