**Duties**:
The position provides emergency response for fires, spills, disasters, and accidents, as well as rescue operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing medical care, conducting equipment inspections and maintenance, and participating in public education activities when not responding to emergencies.

CERTIFICATIONS:
- First Aid & CPR: Valid and endorsed certification from a recognized service provider in standard/basic first aid and “Level C” cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or higher.
AND
OR
- Diploma of professional studies in fire safety intervention (Quebec)
OR
- Pre-Fire Service Program (Ontario) AND NFPA 470 Hazardous Material Awareness and Operations level certification from an accredited training provider.
Notes: CANADIAN ARMED FORCES (CAF) QUALIFICATION LEVELS (QL)
- NFPA study programs shall be successfully completed at an IFSAC or Pro board accredited entity.
**HAZMAT qualifications issued in accordance with NFPA 472 or 1072 are equivalent qualifications to NFPA 470 and are therefore acceptable alternatives.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
- NFPA 1031 - Fire Inspector Level I
- NFPA 1033 - Fire Investigator Level I
- NFPA 1035 - Public Fire and Life Safety Educator Level I or Level I & II
- NFPA 1521 - Incident Safety Officer
- NFPA 1021 - Level I Fire Officer
- NFPA 1021 - Level II Fire Officer
- NFPA 1031 - Level III Fire Inspector
- NFPA 1041 - Level II Fire Department Instructor
- NFPA 1006 - High Angle rope rescue operations
- Ontario SP100 - Wild Land Firefighter Training.
EXPERIENCES:
AEX1. Experience inspecting a variety of naval vessels, including auxiliary, support and warships
AEX2. Experience in firefighting techniques and associated equipment
AEX3. Experience in the inspection, repair or maintenance of fire extinguishers and other firefighting equipment
AEX4. Experience in accident investigation within the Department of National Defence
AEX5. Experience using the Integrated Fire Services Management and Reporting System (IFSMR)
AEX6. Experience in managing resources on shipboard or on an airfield and structural emergency responses
AEX7. Experience using the Incident Command Structure (ICS)
AEX8. Experience in Confined Space Rescue
AEX9. Experience with Ammunition standbys and transfers
AEX10. Experience with Wildland Firefighting
AEX11. Experience with Nuclear Emergency Response Tactics (NERT)
AEX12. Experience in providing Emergency Medical Care
AEX13. Experience in emergency response, such as volunteer firefighting, first aid response, or similar roles in crisis interventions
