The Mixer Operator’s main purpose is to efficiently operate Cat Rm 250 & 300s in a variety of situations involving cement stabilization, in potentially tight work areas with a variety of other construction equipment, in busy work projects. The Mixer Operator is also responsible for promoting and participating in the Goal Zero initiative. Standard General is willing to train the right applicant should they have a good understanding of road construction and are experienced in operating other pieces of equipment such as loaders or packers.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Positively participate in Goal Zero Initiative, including adhering to the Defined Activities as defined for their position.
- Responsible for equipment checks and informing mechanics and supervisors of mechanical problems with the equipment.
- Must be able to identify hazards on site.
- Must be willing and able to learn general construction practices involving road construction.
- Must have an understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
- Have the ability to work in an implement safe work practices and contribute to a safe work environment.

**Knowledge/Skills**:

- Class 3 license with air endorsements is considered an asset.
- Must have a good understanding of road construction.
- Willing to learn and take direction.
- Able to perform physical/manual labour for extended periods of time.
- Able to communicate well with co-workers.
- Must have a valid driver’s license (class 5).
- Able to work under pressure in some situations.
- Able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies.
- Able and willing to work overtime as required.
- Must be reliable.
- Must exhibit a strong work ethic.
- Must have strong regard for ethics.
- Ability to meet and adhere to all safety requirements and applicable safety policies, including pre-employment drug, alcohol, and medical testing.
- Must be willing to join and maintain active membership with the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), Local 955, if not already a member.
