**Department, Unit or Project Description**:
The Department of Medicine is looking for a Research Assistant to work within the Division of Cardiology.
**Job Summary**:
Provide support to research projects including the collection of data and basic data analysis. Work is performed under general direction and guidance.
**Accountabilities**:
- Work with the Research Coordinator and/or Principle Investigator to gather and compile data.
- Assist in the documentation of research protocols.
- Record and maintain accurate records.
- Conduct literature searches to support research project.
- Seek guidance and direction from Research Staff or Manager.
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:Completed or currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program.
**Experience**:Prior experience in a research environment or related coursework**.**
**Assets**:
- Knowledge on and experience with Research Ethics Boards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Organization skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Experience using Epic
**Additional Information**:
Some responsibilities include:
- Efficiently communicate with research ethics boards (REB), such as HiREB.
- Complete forms and prepare documents for submission to REBs.
- Submit REB amendments and annual renewals for active projects.
- Create figures for publications and presentations.
- Assist in the formatting of manuscripts and protocols.
- Follow guidelines for journal publications and prepare documents accordingly.
- Help with preparation and submission of research grants.
- Screen Epic / EHR for patients admitted with a diagnosis, assess patients for trial eligibility, recruit and consent patients, collect data.
- Prepare Powerpoint presentation slides.
- Conduct literature reviews.
- Perform other research administrative duties as assigned.
