The Facility Maintenance - Light Equipment Operator ’s primary responsibility is to perform preventative and daily maintenance needs for the Brazeau County shop, yard, and buildings. The position works independently to prioritize maintenance needs and complete required tasks.

The Facilities Maintenance - Light Equipment Operator is a key contributor to the achievement of the department’s operational deliverables and provides maintenance support to all departments.

**Responsibilities**:

- Control the inventory of tools, supplies in and out of the Public Works yard including culverts, signs, tools, and equipment.
- Keeps the yard and storage buildings clean and orderly including ground maintenance.
- Responsible for the daily maintenance of the water recycling system and wash bay.
- Provides assistance as needed to shop personnel. Keeps shop clean and tidy including emptying garbage, recycling, washing floors, and moving shop repair equipment, parts and pallets.
- Wash equipment and vehicles when needed.
- Complete minor building maintenance and repairs including painting, light bulb changes, minor plumbing, window cleaning, and moving furniture.
- Complete daily facility inspections and identify any needed repairs.
- Assists labourers with snow and ice removal.
- May be required to pick up parts and vehicles and deliver parts or equipment in field.
- Adheres to guidelines as set out in Brazeau County’s policies and administrative directives, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Accountable for working in compliance with the _Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act,_ regulations and codes, and participates in the Health and Safety Program.
- Overtime and weekend work will be required as necessary by operational needs.
- Shift work may be implemented as required, this may include emergency response call outs.
- To undertake any other reasonable duty, commensurate with the classification and responsibility of the position, across the department to meet service priorities and business continuity requirements.
- May be required in the event of a municipal emergency to support the emergency operations centre and incident action/recovery plan.

**Competency Areas: Education/Training**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.

**Licenses/Certifications/Designation**:

- A valid Class 5 License is required.
- A satisfactory Five-Year Commercial Driver’s Abstract is required.

**Experiences/Knowledge/Skills**:

- Experience using variety of small power equipment.
- Experience operating utility vehicle, loader, skid steer, and small tractor with attachments required.
- Must be mechanically inclined with experience using hand and power tools.
- Must demonstrate strong time management skills.
- Facility maintenance experience in a commercial setting would be considered an asset.
- A strong service focus with good verbal and written communication skills are required to communicate effectively.
- Ability to carry out physical labour.
- Basic computer skills are required.

- Union Grid 5A-5D ($30.81 - $35.77)

- Area of work encompasses the Brazeau County area
